![]() Machine Discovery and Installation
Select a Discovery Method There are two selections available, Search Domain Directory, and Search IP Address Range.
Search IP Address Range develops an address range based on the network interfaces that are installed in the computer, and its access to those subnets. Each address in the calculated subnets is queried for DNS and active directory information. Available Network Interfaces The list of availabe interfaces is used only when the search method is Search IP Address Range. Selecting an entry in the list and then pressing Remove Entry deletes the entry so that it may not be searched. Pressing the Add IP Discovery Range button allows manual entry of a range specification. Note that all of the ranges, whether valid or invalid, shown in the list are searched. Discovery Pressing the Start Discovery button begins the search for valid IP addresses and hostnames based on the selected search method. During the search, the Start Discovery button changes to a Cancel Discovery button which provides for termination of an in-progress search. Entries may be manually added to the discovered machines list by pressing the Add One IP Entry button. Selected entries may be removed from the list by pressing the Remove Entry button. Please note that the search and discovery may take a long period of time depending on the number of machines to be discovered. Installing the Alert Pop-Up Once the Discovered Machine list is populated and any necessary changes to its contents have been made, pressing the Install Alert Pop-Up button begins the installation to each of the machines in the list. During the installation, the status column is updated to indicate the current state of each machine's installation. Please note that the installation for a large number of machines may take considerable time to complete. When the installation of the Pop-Up Alerter is finished, the Close button may be used to exit the program. |
