Distribution Names
Nobix Alert recipients may be individual recipient workstations or distribution lists. Both are configured using the Messaging interface on the Distribution panel. Distribution lists are made up of one or more individual recipients, or other distribution list names. This means that multiple distribution lists may be grouped together, and then referenced individualy or as a set.
Properties for recipients include the recipient hostname, IP address, name, and description. Actions may be selected by using the Action menu, or by right-clicking on selected entries in the listview control.
The Distribution Panel in the Messaging interface is used to manage the recipients and distribution lists which reside in the distribution table. There are two main controls, the list of existing recipients and distribution lists, and below that the associated member list. When a distribution list name is selected in the upper list the lower list displays the members of the selected distribution list.

New Recipient
Clicking on the New Recipient action displays the Recipient Properties dialog. This dialog allows entry of the values for:
- Recipient Hostname
- IP Address
- User Name
- Description
New Distribution List
The New Distribution List dialog allows entry of the:
- Distribution List Name
- Description
Distribution List Associations
The association dialog displays two lists, the Available list on the left and the Associated list on the right. Double-clicking or using the movement arrows allows copying selected items from one list to the other. The associated list contains the members of the distribution list.
The Distribution List Associations dialog is available only for distribution list names.
Delete
When a recipient or distribution list name is selected and the Delete action is clicked, the list entry is deleted. A confirmation is displayed prior to actual deletion.
Properties
Clicking the Properties action displays the base properties for the recipient or distribution list name.
Auto Generate Recipients
Clicking Auto Generate Recipients displays the Automatic Recipient Generation dialog.
User Licensing
Nobix Alert Server is licensed for a specific number of recipients using an activation key. If the number of recipients exceeds the licensed quantity, various warning messages are generated. Alert Server will not distribute messages to more recipients than allowed by its license. The number of recipients licensed may be viewed in the Help → About dialog in the Messaging Interface.
