There are two methods that may be used to install the desktop pop-up alert software. One method uses the deployment program that is installed when the Nobix Alert Server is installed. The deployment program allows you to install the desktop pop-up alerter onto other Windows systems on your network remotely and silently. The user logged onto the PC where the alert software is installed will not be disturbed. For help using the deployment program, please review the appropriate documentation.

The second method (discussed on this page) is to download the desktop alert software from the Nobix web site directly to the PC it is to be installed on (or to a network share), and then run the installation program from that PC. This method generally involves interaction with the user.

1. Click the Nobix Alert link.
   
   
2. Click the Nobix Alert Desktop Pop-Up Alert download link.
   
   
3. Do one of the following:
   
   
• To run the Windows installer file immediately upon completing the download, click Open.
  
  
• To copy the download to your computer for setup at a later time, click Save. When prompted, specify the directory into which you want to save the installation file.
  
  
• To cancel the download, click Cancel.



4. If you have not already done so above, run the Nobix Alert Desktop Pop-Up Windows installer file you downloaded. You can do this by running the installer file you downloaded at a command prompt or double-clicking the file in Windows Explorer.



5. The Nobix Alert Desktop Pop-Up Setup Wizard appears. Follow the on-screen instructions to install Nobix Alert Desktop Pop-Up on your computer. An activation key is not necessary for this software component.
   
   
6. After the Nobix Alert Desktop Pop-Up installation completes, the software will automatically start. The alerter icon is visible in the system tray. The Desktop Pop-Up Alerter runs as a Windows service process. There are no Windows start menu items for this product.
