There are ten directories that are used, those being /NSD/files0 thru /NSD/files9. Note that the POSIX directory and file names are case-sensitive.

All files stored by JobRescue and ElectroPage are uniquely named, and there should never be a problem with overwriting existing files during a restore.

This procedure assumes that you are using the standard MPE STORE commands for your backups and restores. If you are using a different product then you will need to adjust your syntax accordingly.

Additionally, this procedure assumes that you are restoring all of the files on the backup.

For the last step in the process below, you'll need to know if you are using version 6.1F or an earlier version. You can determine the version of JobPak by executing:

PRINT BUILD.JPAK.NSD

You will need to determine if you are storing these files on the system volume set or on a user volume set. Generally, if you have a group named USERVOL.NSD then you are using a user volume set. The USERVOL group is not normally created when the system volume set is used. You need to know which storage area is used as the pathnames of the files on the backup are different.

To restore files from a previously created backup perform the following steps:

Sign on as MGR.NSD,PUB

Stop the JobPak job with the command:

JPAKCOM.JPAK STOP

Restore the files into the POSIX directories under the /NSD root directory.
Note that the following syntax is for MPE STORE/RESTORE. If you are using other backup and restore software, then you should use the commands appropriate for that software, using the pathnames shown below.

To restore both $STDLISTs and reports:

If you are using the system volume set to save your $STDLISTs and reports:

RESTORE ; /NSD/files#/@ ; SHOW

If you are using a user volume set:

RESTORE ; /NSD/USERVOL/files#/@ ; SHOW

To restore $STDLISTs only:

If you are using the system volume set:

RESTORE ; /NSD/files#/A@ ; SHOW

If you are using a user volume set:

RESTORE ; /NSD/USERVOL/files#/A@ ; SHOW

To restore reports only:

If you are using the system volume set:
RESTORE ; /NSD/files#/R@ ; SHOW

If you are using a user volume set:

RESTORE ; /NSD/USERVOL/files#/R@ ; SHOW

Purge the JOBDATA.PUB file PURGE JOBDATA.PUB.NSD

Rebuild the JOBDATA file with the command:

RJOBDATA.JPAK

This program may run for several minutes.

Rebuild the Log information for the status program with the command:

MERGEDIT.JPAK.NSD -rebuild 0000

You can replace the 0000 with the 24-hour time that your STATUS logs switch over. You can re-execute the MERGEDIT command as many times as you wish until you get it right.

If you are using JobPak 6.1F, rebuild the log beginning and end records:

MERGEDIT.JPAK.NSD -logbe

You should now have access to your restored data via the STATUS program, as well as be able to restart the JobPak job.

Remember, if you do not change your configuration to increase the number of days for saving $STDLISTs and/or the reports, the information you restored will be deleted at the next Retention Management Cycle.

If you have any questions, please contact Nobix support at support@nobix.com, or (800) 538-3818, or (925) 659-3500.
