Activation Key Helpful Hints
"My Activation Keys aren't working." - This is the most frequent call that Technical
Support at Nobix receives. The most common reason for a "bad" key is that incorrect
machine information was provided to create the key. This problem is easily solved
by having Nobix create a new key. Nobix needs exact machine information before a
new key can be created. Before contacting Nobix for a new key, please gather the
necessary information as follows:
For UNIX and Linux Systems - Our software uses a combination of one or more
of the hostname, machine model and processor serial number to provide activation:
- Logon to your UNIX or Linux system
- Read the following that pertains to your hardware and operating system. Then execute
the commands shown and record the values that are output to your display:
For HP9000 and HP Integrity Systems running HP-UX, uname -i
is the Machine ID, and uname -m is the CPU Name.
For IBM Power systems running AIX and x86 Linux systems running Red
Hat, uname -n is the Machine ID, and uname -m is the CPU Name
For Solaris systems, the Machine ID is determined by running the Nobix
program sysinfo (this program is part of the product installation, or you
can download it here), and uname -m is
the CPU Name
- Click here to generate a new activation key
using your recorded values.
For x86 Windows Systems
- Open a Command Prompt on your Windows system.
- Enter the command hostname and record the value that is displayed.
- Click here to generate a new activation key
using your recorded value.
For HP e3000 Systems:
- Logon as MGR.NSD
- Determine the number that HP has assigned to your system by entering: SHOWVAR HPSUSAN
- Determine the model number that HP has assigned to your system by entering: SHOWVAR
HPCPUNAME
- Determine what Nobix products you are using and the version number of the software
for those products:
For JobPak products (JobRescue, JobQue, ElectroPage):
a. Enter PRINT BUILD.JPAK - This displays the JobPak version number if you are on
version 6.0b or later. If the system returns with BUILD.JPAK.NSD: NO SUCH FILE or
SYSTEM CALL ERROR, then you have version 6.0a or earlier (see next step b.)
b. Enter RUN STATUS.JPAK - This displays:
JobPak Status #.#?
(where #.# is a number value and ? is a lower-case letter).
- Please contact Nobix
